BPIA 2008 OCTOBER Membership Meeting

Your BPIA Meeting Planning committee is preparing a very good program for the next meeting of our group, October 14th and October 15th. Please place these dates on your calendar and plan to attend.

The meetings themselves will be held at the University of California, Davis, Business Center in Sacramento, California – we used this facility in the past – Pam Marrone of Marrone Organic Innovations is working to arrange our meeting room with officials there.

The general theme of the meeting is grower adaptation and communications with a plan for a variety of US and international presenters (more to come).

Field Trip:

A full agenda has not been set yet, however the timing and host of a field-trip has been determined. Wednesday afternoon, October 15th we will have an opportunity tour and visit with Campbell’s (as in Campbell’s Soup) vegetable production research facilities and staff near Davis, California. Dr. Hasan Balkan will be our host – he is very interested in learning from us how they can use more of our products in their research and production programs.

Since AgraQuest and Marrone Organic Solutions (both BPIA members) are nearby, less formal visits may be possible Monday or Wednesday afternoon. Please made these arrangements with those companies on your own.

Sponsorship:

As in the past we look to members sponsorship of breaks and meals. You may hear from a meeting planning member in the next couple of months. Please consider helping out as your organization is able.

Hotel Reservations:

Make your room reservations early. I have arranged for rooms at the following hotels. Both hotels have set aside 25 rooms and are flexible to add more rooms as we need them. Both hotels are near the Business Center. I will check periodically with the hotels to see what the status of the hotel reservations are and advise them to expand availability as necessary.
